How BOTOX® & XEOMIN® Work

Forehead lines, frown lines, worry lines…these can all be addressed quickly with Botox® or Xeomin®. Both of these brands are excellent for safely addressing unwanted wrinkles.

Toxin is injected into the muscle directly below the wrinkled area, blocking the transmission of signals from the nerve ending to the muscle. This causes a temporary relaxation of the treated muscle the causes the wrinkles. Wrinkles smooth away within 3-10 days from treatment.

Xeomin® has been used for over 10 years to treat wrinkles. While both toxins are safe and effective, we prefer the more cost-effective Xeomin®

Long Lasting

Results will start to show after 3-10 days and will last 3-5 months. The result is not permanent because the nerve ending re-establishes it’s signaling by forming new nerve sprouts.  Clients who have treatments 2 or 3 times per year tend to find the results may last longer after the first 2 years of treatments.

Fast Results with No Downtime

There is no recovery period following BOTOX® treatments, and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Avoid workouts, wearing a hat, or anything that would push against the treated area for 1 day. Mild redness in treated areas is expected and disappears quickly.

Neurotoxin FAQ

What is Botox?

Botox is a brand of botulinum toxin, much like Xeomin and Dysport. Each manufacturer has slightly different specifications for how long it lasts, and how best to use their product. When injected, it temporarlily prevents the muscle from activating, thus smoothing lines and wrinkles.

How Is It Priced?

Each area being treated requires a specific number of units of product to attain the best result. We charge for the exact number of units utilized during each visit. Our experienced injectors can price the treatment for you before getting started.

Is It Painful?

Most people report very little discomfort. Wrinkle injections are performed with a very small needle.

Do I Need To Do Anything Before My Treatment?

Your injector will clean your skin and prepare it during your treatment. Don’t skip breakfast before your treatment and avoid any blood-thinning medication that day.

What Should I Avoid After My Treatment?

Avoid other facial treatments for 24 hours. Avoid wearing hats or headbands for 24 hours. Return for touch ups within 2 weeks if needed.

How Does This Compare With Fillers?

Fillers are used to fill in lines, or volumize areas with hyaluronic acid. Botox works differently by temporarily freezing the muscles that cause wrinkles. It is typically less painful than injectable fillers, and works well to prevent the formation of wrinkles.
